The initial overview covers four levels that need to be taken into consideration while designing a product for international audiences: a technical level, a linguistic level, a cultural level and a cognitive level. Based on this model, two approaches for the cognitive level are presented as a basis for discussion as this level seems to be the most challenging one. It focuses on one particular aspect, i.e. accommodating cultural factors in human-computer interaction (HCI) studies, of a wider ranging study which has been published as a doctoral thesis under the title "The Quest for a Theoretical Framework for eLearning and Knowledge Management Activities". For the purposes of this article, the eLearning dimension with associated models and concepts has been largely excluded from the dis- cussion. Similarly, the complex issue of defining culture and context and the different approaches to identifying cultural differences cannot be dealt with within the scope of this article. Ergonomische Produkte meint hier nutzergerecht gestaltete MMS. Somit gilt bei Produktpräsenz auf dem Weltmarkt, es sind nutzergerecht gestaltete InMMS notwendig. Im Rahmen dieser Forschung wird ein in eine Simulation eingebettetes, fein aufgelöstes Modell eines Autofahrers entwickelt. Die Grundlagen bilden Untersuchungen der Kognitionspsychologie, der Verkehrsforschung und der Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion. Die hier vorliegende Publikation stellt die Aufgabenbereiche des Modells vor und begründet seine Erstellung. Zudem wird das Modell selbst zusammenfassend vorgestellt.
