The new belgian e-voting system

Zusammenfassung
In use since 1994, the Belgian e-voting system has reached the end of its useful life. A new prototype (an improved paper-based voting system), developed by a consortium led by Smartmatic, will be used for the first time in October 2012. This paper takes a look at the workings of the new system and carries out a brief analysis of its compatibility with the main international election standards.
