The application of scientifically derived theories on software testing strongly depends on their ability to provide a value for practice. We provide a comprehensive review on the focus of research in combination with the requirements for their application. The major challenge for practice remains the continuous collection of data for successful method application. Major research gaps lie in a lack of integrated concepts supporting test organisation.en
