The analysis of a specific research organisation confirms that scientific research involves a high level of knowledge intensity and reveals a generally unsystematic practice of knowledge handling. Proposed short and medium term action plans focus on an improvement of organisational learning and communication structures supporting innovation. This appears to be of great value not only for future steps in organisational development but also to facilitate sustainable competitiveness in an increasingly complex area of scientific research.de
