Internet Ecological Footprint Calculator – successful educational program in Slovakia

Zusammenfassung
Ecological Footprint is considered to be a basic indicator of sustainable development worldwide. This paper describes an innovative educational program in Slovakia that is realized under this title and running through the web portal www.ekostopa.sk. It is based on the Internet calculator developed by Slovak Environmental Agency which measures an impact of a school on the Planet. The main educational aim is to understand the demand our daily activities impose on environment, explore own decisions and find correct options. Every nursery, elementary or secondary school in Slovakia can participate and join in.
