| dc.description.abstract | Environmental Monitoring in urban areas is the base for making good decisions in order to improve quality of life in
towns. This requires sensor data integration and fusion of various types of parameters, including periodic timeseries
of simple and complex data types like temperature and sound spectrums, as well as non periodic timeseries stemming
from traffic data. AIT developed and implemented a novel approach for a combined and integrated monitoring of
Environmental Pollution. openUwedat was partly developed under the InnoSens project, which was funded by the
European Commission as well as through structure funds of the national government. Within the InnoSens project,
this architecture has been tested in the domains of air and noise monitoring caused mainly by traffic. Important to
mention is that this monitoring takes place in urban areas and not only on arterial highways.
The same software platform is currently in use for the drinking water monitoring network of the City of Vienna and
the EU funded project “CARBOTRAF” which focuses on developing specialized aggregating algorithms for traffic
prediction and management to minimize CO2 and black carbon emissions. The paper will describe the development
of a component oriented architecture based on POA (Pipe Oriented Architecture), its advantages and disadvantages.
Furtheron, it will give a short introduction of the toolbox component “Formula 3 scripting language” for flexible and
high-performance timeseries processing Other toolbox components like the universal measurement device interface
driver “AnySen” and the graphical timeseries editor “GTE” have been published before (Schabauer 2010, Kutschera
2009). | de |
