Geo Data and Infrastructure provided by the Environmental Administration of Schleswig-Holstein

Abstract

Under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Environment and Rural Areas of Schleswig-Holstein there has been developed an internet platform for geographic data. This “Agricultural and Environmental Atlas of Land Schleswig-Holstein” is based on the web mapping open source product UMN Mapserver of the University of Minnesota. It has been set up to satisfy the environmental reporting duties. In the last years the focus changed from a pure presentation platform to a multi purpose platform. An extremely important aspect has become the ability to act as a data provider in the geo data infrastructure. Since the year 2005 Schleswig-Holstein (SH) cooperates with Mecklenburg-W estern Pomerania http://www.umweltkarten.mv-regierung.de), since the year 2006 also with Rhineland-Palatinate http://www.umweltatlas.rlp.de).
