Le glacier de Scarisoara est un des plus investigue dans le monde entier. Il renferme 75000 m3 de glace en plus de 1000 couches. Il a ete mentionne la premiere fois en 1863 par une expedition autrichienne. L 'Institute Speologique "Emil Racovita" de Cluj a fait des recherches dans le glacier depuis 1921.
Nous sommes en train de realiser un systeme d 'acquis des donnes dans le glacier. Avec ce systeme nous voulons obtenir des informations utiles pour le processus climatique et de pollution.Les donnees seront disponibles per Internet.
The Scarisoara Ice Cave hosts one of the very few thoroughly investigated subterran glaciers in the world. Actually the world's second largest such glacier, it amounts 75, 000 m 3 of i expedition in 1863, the glacier has continuously receded, losing some 2.5 m in overall thickness (which is presently 23 m). The "Emil Racovita" Speological Institute from Cluj initiated its research in the cave in 1921. We are currently implementing a system for data acquisition and management for the Ghetar Ocoale and Zgurasti area. We are interested in gathering information relevant for climatic and pollution processes. The project is developed by ITC and I.S. "Emil Racovita" under co-ordination of the Ministry of Research and Technology from Romania.
