TEMSIS — A Cooperative Environmental Management and Information System at the German French Border

Abstract

The objective of the TEMSIS project is to realise an Environmental Management Support and Information System supporting preparation, and publishing of environmental data in the German-French urban agglomeration. The main aspect is to integrate Data Warehouse and Telecooperation services. The project realises this by integration of existing products to fulfil the requirements of local authorities. The `Navigator' application and product APIs are the basis for this integration. The demonstrator consists of an A-Kiosk station based on standard Windows PC with local applications and services accessible by the `Navigator' application. The public can use the P-Kiosk based on Internet technology to access the central TEMSIS services.

Ziel des TEMSIS Projektes ist es, ein Umweltinformationsund Managementsystem zu realisieren, das die Aufbereitung, Nutzung und Verbreitung von Umweltinformationen im saarländisch-lothringischen Verdichtungsraum unterstützt. Der Hauptschwerpunkt liegt in der Kombination von Data Warehouse und Telekooperationsdiensten. Ein wesentlicher Beitrag des Projektes ist die Integration bestehender Softwareprodukte in eine Umgebung, die auf die Belange der Planungsbehörden angepaßt ist. Der Demonstrator bietet einen TEMSIS A-Kiosk Arbeitsplatz, der auf einem Standard Windows PC basiert, indem lokale Applikationen und zentrale Dienste in integrierter Form über eine ,,Navigator" Applikation genutzt werden können. Mit Hilfe der „Navigator" Applikation werden dabei die APIs der Produkte verwendet um die wesentlichen Funktionen anzusteuern..
