A Web Based Information System of "The Prevention of Major Industrial Accidents" (SEVESO)
Zusammenfassung
The big disasters are not unusual in the history of mankind. These are mostly natural disasters arising independently on the human acts (earthquakes, destructive winds, volcano eruptions, fires etc.). Since January 2004 the world has been stricken by more than 650 natural disasters. Comparing this number with growing number of industrial accidents we might think that the latter is not so high. However, the opposite is true. Industrial accidents kill people, animals, damage properties and destroy environment less or more irretrievably. The extent of environmental damages is often higher than the damages caused by natural disasters.
