Basic Considerations on Using Visualization and Fuzzy Methods to Generate 3D-Models from Different Geological Data Sources

Zusammenfassung
The cooperation project on “Hamburgs dynamical geological underground” (HADU) intends an integrative view on recent geological subsurface processes in the region of the City of Hamburg. Measurement data resulting from geological georadar methods, geophysical ambient vibrations techniques, and conventional well databases shall be combined to a 3D-underground model. From the geological point of view, such a model will help to understand the georisks caused by the dynamics of the salt diapirs in the underground. From a mathematical point of view, the building of the 3D-underground model can be specified as a general task that consists in combining different data sources that provide incomplete, uncertain, and multi-scale 3D-data to form a comprehensive model and a problem oriented visualization of the region of interest. This paper offers a formal specification of the problem that firstly helps to manage the interdependencies between the data, secondly gives entry points for integration of methods to complete incomplete data and to deal with uncertain data, and thirdly integrates a ratio for the quality and reliability of the value displayed.
