The moving window technology is a framework to describe the distribution of spatially arranged objects and features throughout the landscape. With the help of the parameters shape and size of the analysis window the degree of generalization can be adjusted and infinitely variably scaled. The scaling is demonstrated in comparison with conventional methods of spatial interpolation by using a density function inside the moving window. It will be applied to smooth Digital Elevation Models (DEM) to produce high quality 3D-Views as well for describing the distribution of a set of protected plants throughout the landscape to delineate areas for special protection measures.de
