Erfahrungen aus der Entwicklung eines interaktiven, non-planaren Displays / Lessons Learned from the Development of an Interactive, Non-planar Display

Abstract

The technological development of interactive surfaces does not only cover areas like size or resolution but also includes the shape of the display. While there are several planar displays, which can be differently oriented to the user, there are also non-planar displays, which try to combine the advantages of differently oriented display areas. As there are only a few examples for the design process of a non-planar interactive display this paper presents an overview of the development of such a device. It describes the basic prototyping as well as studies and interfaces, which were implemented especially for this display. These experiences led to multiple lessons learned for the development of an interactive, nonplanar display which are presented at the end of this paper. They can help researchers and developers to avoid some mistakes while developing a non-standard display.
