Development of a Tool for Integrated Life Cycle Assessment and Ecodesign of Electrical and Electronic Products

Abstract

The emergence of new constraints, including European environmental regulations resulted in the appearance of new needs regarding the quantification of the environmental impact of an Electrical and Electronic (E&E) product. To meet these new requirements, a software tool that aimed at assessing the environmental impact of Energy using Products was developed: EIME (Environmental Impact Made Easy). In the specifications for this tool, three development axes were identified. The first one consisted in providing a highly accessible tool where the concept of collaborative work was the main goal. The second aspect was to improve the software user friendly aspect. The third axis was to propose a database that was adapted to Electrical and Electronic product issues.
